Medical Assistant (MA)
This nine-month program prepares students to perform both clinical and administrative
tasks in healthcare settings, which include taking patient vitals, preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures,
scheduling appointments, and managing patient records and billing. Students will also
learn clinical skills, such as injections, various procedures, and wound care. Career pathways include continuing your education to become a Licensed Vocational
Nurse, Registered Nurse or a Physician Assistant.

Class Schedule:

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 p.m. – 9:10 p.m. - Externship Component (Spring Semester)
The externship schedule will vary depending on the assigned medical provider site. - The externship is an unpaid, daytime, hands-on work experience designed to provide students with practical experience in a healthcare setting. Students will be assigned to a medical provider site and will complete 16 hours per week (two 8-hour days, Monday–Friday).
Requirements for Students Selected into the Medical Assistant Program:
- Current CPR for health care provider or professional rescuer certificate.
- Physical exam
- Current TB
- Proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella, TDaP, COVID-19, Seasonal Flu)
